Hello to everyone on this historic day! I voted early so I wouldn’t have to stand in a long line today but still stood in a long line anyway. This week I’ll be reviewing Nickel Smooth Operator Shaving Gel. This claims to be the first shaving gel created for all skin types, not just oily. Like I have mentioned in earlier posts, my skin is on the drier side and my guinea pig/brother-in-law’s is very oily, so we both decided to try it to see if that’s true. Of coarse he loved it because it is a gel which no matter what the packaging says is still specifically made for oily skin ,so he highly approved and even took the can with him afterward (didn’t pay for it though). Unlike inferior drugstore brands (you know you’ve used them), you only need a marble size amount and it turns into a foam on wet skin. This is different than alot of non-lathering/non-foaming shaving creams that we offer. Foaming or non-foaming and lathering or non-lathering is a personal preferance. It doesn’t matter to me.

The price is great! $15 for a 4.3 oz. Very comparable to same size of other more expensive shaving products. I have to admit that I really like it. It does a great job, no razor drag or tightness afterwards which is always a good sign. Even though it’s a gel for all skin types and it proved to me so, I still feel that gels are for oily skin and should be used by men with oilier skin. But some people prefer a gel to a cream no matter what their skin type is and this is perfect for them since this is a gel formulated for all skin types.

All in all, a great Nickel product that I highly recommend for all skin types especially if you prefer a foaming, lathering shave gel. However, even though I really liked this shave gel, I still feel that it’s more for oily skin and should be used as such. Bottom line-this is the perfect shave gel for oily skin but can be used by all skin types who prefer a gel instead of a cream.
